SOUTH CENTRAL COUNSELING GROUP
    CHARLOTTESVILLE
A COMPASSIONATE THERAPY PRACTICE

Summary of services

SCCG counselors operate from the perspective that healing is based in supportive relationships and that interactions with others significantly impact health and behavior. We see parent /caregiver involvement as crucial to the progress of younger clients, as well as an opportunity for parents to cultivate courage and growth in themselves.  In addition to play and nature based interventions, our counselors center wellness (and not pathology) themes such as sleep, routine, movement, social, nutritional, and spiritual areas of life.  All counselors at SCCG receive ongoing training in attachment, family systems, and trauma informed approaches and are under the direct clinical supervision of a licensed therapist.

Outpatient Counseling  Individual and family/couple counseling for all ages. We accept Anthem, Sentara and Aetna private insurance, most medicaid policies , direct pay and CSA funding.  Sessions can be provided in person or via telehealth using HIPPA secure zoom platform.

Home based Counseling Home based Counseling at SCCG serves children and adolescents ages 4-18 and their families who are in need of comprehensive mental health services. Home based counselors typically work in teams to provide  individual counseling with identified client/youth, family and parent sessions and care coordination.

We accept CSA/FAPT funding for this service. Please contact Staci Vinson, LCSW at [email protected] for further information or to make a referral.

Therapeutic mentoring  Mentoring is a supportive relationship with a  counselor  to provide  individualized guidance, and help with skill building (daily living, wellness, vocational, academic and/or social skills) to a child or teen. It is most appropriate for adolescents who would benefit from more adult support,  often single parent families or for youth in foster care. Direct pay or CSA funding only.

Parent Support   A service to help parents identify basic attachment needs of their child and practice with support of the parent support counselor. Areas of focus can include basic parenting (routine/structure, limit setting, nurturing) or  responding to difficult behaviors.
Additionally  the parent support counselor works to identify parenting strengths and areas of needed repair with children, and helps to make that happen.
Direct pay or CSA funding only.

Group Counseling  We offer rotating groups to strengthen whole person wellness including childrens "mindfulness and movement", teens "coping and connection",  and parent skill building.  Contact intake for more information on current offerings.
